It was a beautiful spring day for our Temecula 5K event, and this year was officially record-breaking! Our incredible community stepped up more generously than ever, helping us raise over $18,000! We hosted over 145 participants and volunteers partnering with the dedicated MADD staff. Speacial thanks for our Team Garret committee members Heidi Chan, Heather Cobbs and Michelle Naglevoort.
We were thrilled to welcome the Riverside County DA's Association, Temecula Valley Toyota, and Bank of America who debuted as our newest VIP sponsors. They joined forces alongside our fiercely loyal, long-time friends at the Summit Springs Educational Foundation and Panish Shea Ravipudi LLP. Please take a moment to review the other local businesses that graciously supported our cause this year. Our loyal, repeat contributors are highlighted in bold below.
The heart of our event remains the stories and the beautiful legacies of those lost to a DUI driver that we honor. Nicole Costco, a dear friend of Garret Caouette, and Garret's father Ivo, touched our hearts by sharing their beautiful personal memories of Garret. Courtney Beaux shared about her sister Chelsie's powerful story, deeply reminding all of us exactly why we lace up our shoes and walk for this cause. Deputy District Attorney Jared Haringsma, shared about his committment to eliminating DUI drivers from our roads, and I spoke about how each one of us can make a difference.
We were also treated to a magical, unexpected sight overhead! A few whimsical pirates and wizards floated by in their hot air balloons, adding a wonderful touch of excitement to the morning, especially to my 3 year old grandson, and Garret's namesake Gabriel.
A special thank you to our friends in law enforcement, who were there ensuring everyone felt safe, protected, and incredibly supported throughout the day.
To keep everyone fueled and refreshed for the course, we kept our favorite traditions alive thanks to some amazing local partners. Participants enjoyed:
Our post-race raffle was another massive highlight, featuring a fantastic variety of awesome prizes that participants jumped at the chance to win that included visits to Murrieta Hot Springs, Golf Club of California Fallbrook, Rusticos and Penfolds restraunts and more.
Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, donated, and sponsored. We couldn't have hit this milestone without you!

This was another great year for our Temecula Walk Like MADD 2025. It was a beautiful spring windy day . We were well nourished and hydrated from the baked goods, fruit , Starbucks coffee and donuts that our sponsors provided as well as iced tea, lemonade and water. Thanks to our business friends we had the best opportunity drawing ever which raised over 1200.00$ ! Don't forget to check out our business supporter section and consider your patronage to these organizations that give back to our community. I was blessed to have many family and friends there and to see participation from more teams and people supporting MADD. We had 138 participants and including volunteers, MADD staff and venders over 150 people were there supporting us. Arise Yoga provided warm up stretches yoga style. We had reps from our law enforcement friends and I finally got to meet Mike Lassig who was one of the CHP officers involved in Garret's case. Team Garret Caouette R4G raised 8106.00 plus another thousand from our lawyers Panish Shae and Ravipuddi. Overall the walk raised over 10,000$. Special Thanks to the WLM committee; Heidi Chan, Heather Cobbs, and Michelle Naglevoort as well as our teen volunteers from Springs Charter School Temecula Campus. We will be walking in Oxnard in JUNE. Go Team Garret Caouette R4G!

WOW! This year's MADD walk blew me away. We had at least 150 people from participants to volunteers and vendor booth personal, city of Temecula services staff, law enforcement, and church representatives. Last year I remembered my husband stating that he hoped that that it would grow, and it did. I would guess at least doubled. We had wonderful support from our community businesses as well who donated goods, funds and volunteer hours to our event enabling us to host an awesome raffle that raised over $700.00. This year the Temecula region Walk Like MADD raised $17,274. Team Garret R4G raised $8376.00 and Team Garret, which consisted mostly of students, raised $945.00. Our team Garret R4G were ranked the 4th team in the nation. I am humbled by the Temecula walk like MADD volunteer committee that supported me and MADD in making this event so great this year. April first 2023 MADD honored Garret by holding a WALK LIKE MADD fundraising event in his honor. We raised $12,845. Team Garret which consisted of our family and friends and others from our Springs Charter School family raised over $4000. Earlier, the week prior, MADD did a presentation for the Temecula Springs Student Center on the dangers of impaired driving. For me, working with MADD and watching the impact that it has on young adults and teens has been uplifting, inspiring and a labor of love.
